In a matter of months, I’ll be turning 40. Not really a big deal for me (heh) since most people tell me I look much younger. I attribute that to “clean living” (heh, heh) and move along, but if you really want to know how old I am, just look at my eyes. Eyes, they say, are the windows to the soul and mine have enough baggage to take a six month vacation to Europe! Over the last year I have tried several products to combat the dark, baggy circles under my eyes and here are all three, from $$$ to $.
Splurge
In the $$$ category at 45.00, we have Skyn Iceland’s Icelandic Relief Eye Cream. This was a splurge of mine I made at Sephora before my husband lost his job. It is a light creme that I daub under my eyes in the morning, and sometimes before I hit the sack. The box says it will minimize the puffiness, dark circles, and wrinkles caused by stress and environmental circumstances. I tried it in Sephora before buying it and I noticed a cooling sensation when I smoothed it on. After a few weeks of using it, I haven’t really noticed a decrease in puffiness, but the circles have disappeared a little. It would probably be doing better if I didn’t stay up so late. Oops!
Save A Little
In my $$ category at 22.99, we have Olay’s “Touch of Concealer” Eye Regenerating Cream. I’m not a big foundation wearer, but this attracted me to buy it because I thought, “If I can’t make it disappear, I’ll cover it up!” That’s exactly what Olay uses to describe this product. They say,“Hydrates skin around the eyes to smooth texture and diminish look of fine lines and wrinkles, while a touch of concealer instantly brightens dark circles.” I’ll use this one when ever I am going out with friends and actually do my make up nicely. When I don’t have time to wait for the Icelandic stuff to work, I’ll slap this on and I am out the door! It definitely hides the dark circles… FAST! Hey, you can’t wait too long when the derby train rolls by with a party… it’ll leave without you!
Save A Lot
And finally in my $ category, we have Garnier Skin Renew Anti-Puff Eye Roller. This was the one I got first because, surprise surprise… I’m thrifty. (read-CHEAP!) This baby costs $12.99 at your local drug store. I started using this right around my 39th birthday when I realized 40 was waving at me in the distance. Garnier(Gar-nee-ay) says this little gem will decongest the fluid around your eye and diminish the dark circles & wrinkles in the process. They also recommend you use this in conjunction with the moisturizing line they have as well. I used this religiously and while I saw the puff only go down slightly, the dark circles did diminish visibly.
And there you have it. Three viable options to hide your dark eye circles! With options like these in my make up bag, I’ll be giving 40 a black eye!
