Review: Origins GinZing eye cream. - Fashion. Rambles.

I think it's fair to say that this is one of those products that has a lot of hype surrounding it.  Obviously, since I am a bit of a sucker for hype, I bought it.

Origins GinZing eye cream is supposed to 'lighten and de-puff' the under eye area, quite a large claim from a little, tiny cream!

It is quite a funny salmon coloured cream with a sheen to it.  This sheen is not easy to pick up on camera.  I tried, believe me.  I also tried to take before and after pictures of it on my eye.

Not sure that worked out to well!  Anyway, it leaves a very slight sheen on the under eye area which does help to brighten and reflect light.

Application:  I pat this under each eye with my ring finger using a very small amount, much less than shown in the picture!  I think you could look a bit too sheeny if you used too much.

Absorption time:  This sinks in quickly, no more than 5 minutes after application.  It is quite light in consistency so that might have something to do with it.

Moisturising capabilities:  Not so much.  It makes the makeup on my under eye area sit better but it doesn't do much in the way of moisturising.

Brightening and de-puffing capabilities:  After using this I do notice that my purple under eye bits are less prominent when I have my foundation on.  However I don't have terrible under eye circles and don't need anything too heavy duty.  I also don't suffer with puffiness so I can't really test that claim.  Maybe I'll report back when hayfever hits!  It does feel quite cooling when applied which helps with puffiness I hear.

Price and availability:  £21 for 15ml.  Pricey enough but I have been using this pot since September and still have quite a bit left!  I also picked mine up in a CCO for a cheaper price.  It is available from the Origins website and Origins counters, which can be found in department stores and some Boots.
Final thoughts:  It does the job for me but if you have really dark circles I can't imagine this would be fantastic.  It also won't suit anyone who wants something super moisturising but I tend to leave that job to my night-time eye cream.
