Protect and preserve two precious jewels – your eyes
“The eye is the jewel of the body.”
Henry David Thoreau
I do try to take good care of my jewels. Eyes are important because they say so much about a person. When you look into someone’s eyes you can see their emotions, state of health, sleep deprivation level and even character. And let’s not forget, eyes are one body part that can betray your age (or those youthful days spent without sunscreen).
A great eye cream is one thing I cannot live without. While many of us have had to reprioritize in this economy, a nourishing eye cream is something I will not do without. Luckily for me, bareMinerals’ newest formulation Renew & Hydrate Eye Cream combines high end, eco-friendly moisture with a reasonable price.
And as a brand regularly featured in our Green Monday column, readers may already know that bareMinerals (the originators behind the mineral makeup trend) is based on the belief that what we put on our skin should be as pure, clean and natural as possible.
To that end, the formula of this hydrating eye cream, and all products in the bareMinerals skin care collection, is based upon the RareMinerals ActiveSoil Complex. This 100-percent pure compound is “extracted from nutritionally dense virgin soil” and has skin-renewing benefits, like “cell turnover, antioxidant protection while optimizing skins ability to absorb and retain moisture.”
Applying the Renew & Hydrate Eye Cream ($32) is easy because it has a great texture. The lush cream moisturizes without being too thick and heavy (like many creams this dense) or too thin and watery (like some serums and gels).
A few well placed dabs go on smooth and absorbs quickly; always important to me because it saves valuable time. I hate waiting for my eye cream to soak in before I can do my eye makeup.
Even more importantly, it doesn’t irritate my sensitive eyes. With consistent use I did see the fine lines around my eyes diminish. And it gets some well deserved bonus points as my concealer also went on much smoother with the use of this product.
Pros:
• Nourishing, yet quickly absorbed
• Reduces the appearance of fine lines
• Reasonably priced.
Greens:
• Formulated without parabens, synthetic fragrances and artificial oils.
Cons:
• A personal preference, but I prefer eye cream in a tube over a jar.
